At Camping Parc de Vaux, there’s always something to do. Not because the schedule is packed, but because the campground itself is a constant invitation to get moving, burn off some energy, or simply relax and enjoy yourself. The Vaux Recreation Park, directly accessible from the campsites and accommodations, brings together in one place everything a family or group could want for a full day—or a day spent doing whatever takes your fancy.
The heated outdoor pool—a summer must-have
This is probably the activity everyone looks forward to most as soon as the kids arrive: the heated outdoor municipal pool, set at 27 °C, with its large pool and water slide. Free for campers with their wristbands, it’s open from June 1 through August 31.
It’s a real hub of activity in the summer: you can spend entire afternoons there, meet up with other families, and hear the shouts of kids whizzing down the slide from early in the morning. It’s the kind of place where kids never want to leave—and where adults also find their own enjoyment, lounging by the pool with a book.
Please note: Swim shorts are not allowed. Flip-flops are permitted. Wristbands are issued upon arrival at the campground.

Water Sports on Lake Haute Mayenne
Just a few minutes from the campground lies Lac de Haute Mayenne, a 123-hectare lake nestled in a preserved natural setting. This is where the recreation center’s more athletic water sports take place: kayaking, canoeing, pedal boats, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, dinghy sailing, and windsurfing.
Swimming is also supervised there during the season.
For those who have never set foot in a kayak, this is the perfect place to start: the waters are calm, the setting is peaceful, and you can go at your own pace. For more experienced paddlers, a beautiful day on the water offers the chance to paddle along the wooded shores and explore the lake from the water.
Fishing — A Time of Its Own
Fishing at Camping Parc de Vaux is a peaceful pleasure. The Mayenne River, which runs right alongside the campground, is known for its game fish, whitefish, and carp. Some campsites offer direct access to fishing spots from the campground.
Lake Haute Mayenne, on the other hand, offers quieter areas that are ideal for day trips, with good conditions for peaceful, relaxed fishing.
Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the campground’s front desk. No need to look any further.
Mini-golf, tennis, pétanque, and ping-pong
Between swims or in the late afternoon, the campground and recreation park offer an 18-hole mini-golf course, tennis courts, a ping-pong table, and pétanque courts. These activities are suitable for all ages, allowing you to easily extend your days and often meet other campers with whom you can play an impromptu game.
It’s often those moments that we remember the longest from a trip.
Playground for young children
For children who aren’t yet old enough to paddle or hold a fishing rod, the park’s playground—with its play structure, sandbox, and swings—is a place where they can run free and burn off energy. Parents appreciate being able to sit nearby while their children explore.
Hiking and biking, starting from the campground
The campground is also an excellent starting point for hiking or biking. Marked hiking trails begin just a few minutes from the campsites, with family-friendly loops along the Varenne and Mayenne rivers. The Vélo Francette—a national cycling route—runs directly through Ambrières-les-Vallées, making the campground a must-stop destination for cycling tourists.
